Buttock augmentation with implants

Buttock volume correction using selected implants.

Implants may be an option when the desired volume cannot be achieved with your own fat or fat transfer is unsuitable. Size and position are chosen according to anatomy.

01 / Reasons to consider surgery

What patients ask about

  • Limited volumeA change in proportion when there is little donor fat available.
  • AsymmetryThe plan addresses differences in shape and volume without promising perfect symmetry.
  • Changes after injury or weight lossLoose skin may also call for a lift.
02 / Options and limitations

What shapes the treatment plan

Implants do not treat cellulite or replace a lift when there is a substantial skin excess. They do not guarantee an unchanged lifelong contour.

Discuss the device, its position, the scar, infection, and the possible need for replacement or removal in the future.

03 / Preparation and technique

Choosing and placing buttock implants

Planning measures pelvic proportions and the tissue that would cover an implant. The described access is in the crease between the buttocks; implant position and any skin lift depend on the chosen technique. A desired number of millilitres alone cannot determine size.

Under anaesthesia, the surgeon creates the pocket, places the selected implants and closes the access incision. Additional skin removal is performed only when a lift is included in the agreed plan.

04 / Contraindications and risks

When surgery is postponed or the plan changes

Cancer and thyroid history, diabetes, clotting problems, and infection need assessment. The decision depends on disease activity and control; infection is treated before surgery. Skin at the incision and tissue covering the implant are examined.

Infection around the implant, displacement, asymmetry, pain, capsule changes, wound separation, and another operation are possible.

05 / Recovery

Sitting and follow-up after buttock implants

The team advises on body position, wound care, and sitting. Early swelling and discomfort require monitoring.

Activity returns gradually; implants and symptoms need attention beyond the initial healing period.

Your surgeon's personal instructions take priority over general information on this site. Seek medical help immediately for severe pain, shortness of breath or a sudden deterioration.

Questions and answers

Questions to discuss

How is buttock implant size selected?

Selection considers pelvic proportions, buttock shape and the tissue covering the implant. A desired volume in millilitres alone does not identify a suitable model.

Do implants replace a lift when there is excess skin?

No. They add volume, but substantial sagging may require skin excision. A combined procedure is agreed before surgery.

Can buttock implants require another operation?

Yes. Infection, displacement, capsule changes and other problems may require correction, replacement or removal. The follow-up plan is discussed beforehand.
