Thigh lift
Femoroplasty to address excess skin and reshape the thighs.
Skin and fat folds can remain after weight loss or liposuction. The extent of excess tissue determines the length of the scar.

What patients ask about
- Excess inner-thigh skinFolds may rub, restrict clothing choices, or interfere with activity.
- Changes after substantial weight lossA reduction in volume does not always make the skin contract sufficiently.
- Fat with loose skinThe surgeon considers whether liposuction should be combined with the lift.
What shapes the treatment plan
Cellulite and stretch marks will not necessarily disappear; only tissue within the planned excision can be removed.
A smaller excess may allow a short groin incision. More extensive sagging may require a vertical scar extending towards the knee.
Incisions for a thigh lift
Examination maps excess skin in the upper thigh, along the inner surface or over a wider area. This determines a groin, vertical or combined incision and whether liposuction may be included. Skin folds and chafing are assessed before marking.
Through the agreed incisions, excess skin and, where needed, subcutaneous tissue are removed, the remaining skin is tightened and the wounds closed. Planned liposuction addresses accompanying fat deposits.
When surgery is postponed or the plan changes
The assessment covers clotting, diabetes and other endocrine disease, weight, blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. Infection or damaged thigh skin must be treated first. The surgeon also reviews swelling, veins, lymphatic drainage, and thrombosis risk.
Possible complications include poor healing or wound separation, fluid collection, infection, swelling, altered sensation, visible scarring, and thrombosis.
Compression and movement after a thigh lift
Swelling, bruising, and tightness call for a gradual return to walking and other activity. Wound care in the groin and along the scar is explained individually.
Compression, sport restrictions, and follow-up depend on healing; there is no single short recovery time for everyone.
Questions to discuss
How does a thigh lift differ from leg liposuction?
A lift removes excess skin; liposuction removes subcutaneous fat. If both concerns are present, the surgeon may discuss combining the procedures.
Will the scar always stay in the groin crease?
No. More extensive sagging may need a vertical or combined incision. Scar position depends on the extent of excess skin.
Does a thigh lift remove cellulite and stretch marks?
It does not guarantee removal of cellulite or every stretch mark. Only tissue within the planned excision is removed.
Price and consultation
The final cost depends on the agreed surgical plan.
The price list includes a groin-scar option (€7,000) and a vertical scar to the knee (€18,000).
