Back liposuction
Correction of local deposits on the back, lower back and waist.

When surgery is considered
Persistent local fullness in one or more back areas can be a reason for a consultation. Suitability depends on fat distribution, skin, overall health and expectations.
What the surgeon assesses
- Shoulder blade areaFolds and deposits in the upper back and their relationship with adjacent areas are assessed.
- Lower back, waist and flanksDeposits can form a continuous transition; planning considers overall body proportions.
- Base of the neckThis area is examined separately to identify the cause of fullness and whether liposuction is appropriate.
What to know before deciding
Fat removal does not lift substantial excess skin. A different cause of fullness or a separate mass must be investigated first.
Results cannot be guaranteed for life: substantial weight changes can alter back contours.
Cannula contouring of back folds
Areas near the shoulder blades, lower back and flanks are marked separately. Fullness at the base of the neck first needs its cause established. Marking considers transitions between areas rather than treating each fold in isolation.
Following anaesthesia, cannulas connected to a vacuum system remove back fat. Access incisions are closed according to the technique; any flank correction stays within the agreed areas.
When the plan is reconsidered
Cosmetic surgery is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Acute infection, a flare-up of chronic illness or back skin injuries are treated first. Clotting disorders, a history of cancer and heart, kidney or liver conditions are assessed with the relevant specialist. Fullness at the base of the neck is checked first; it is not always ordinary subcutaneous fat.
Asymmetry or an uneven transition to the flanks and waist can remain. Swelling, changes in sensation and fluid collections are possible. Bleeding, infection and anaesthetic risks depend on the extent of surgery.
Caring for access incisions on the back
Swelling, bruising and tenderness can last longer than a few days. The surgeon determines compression and incision care.
Observation, discharge and activity depend on the extent of surgery and anaesthesia. Sauna use, swimming and hot baths are restricted as advised by the team.
Questions to discuss
Which back folds can be included in treatment?
Assessment covers areas near the shoulder blades, lower back and flanks. The included areas are agreed after examining the back contour as a whole.
Is every bulge at the base of the neck fat?
No. Its cause needs investigation before surgery. Appearance alone is not enough to prescribe liposuction.
Will stretched back skin tighten after fat removal?
Contraction depends on skin elasticity. Substantial sagging may remain and need a separate lift.
Price and consultation
The final extent and price are confirmed after an examination.
